The Downers Grove Roadrunners Soccer Club is a travelling soccer league that pits teams in the surrounding communities against each other in a challenging and competitive environment.
In the 30 years since its inception, the league has grown to over 30 teams that take the field year-round for tournament play and workshops with the goal of emphasizing the skills necessary in making its players exceptional soccer players.
Experienced, USSF-licensed staff coaches lead the teams in lesson development and game analyses, and player development training programs.
They regularly attend coaching workshops and gain current certifications in the latest coaching techniques to provide the players with advanced and modern strategies to get the most out of their game.
The staff coach has competitive soccer experience and is fully trained in knowing how best to prepare soccer athletes for competitive play.
Each team is also assigned a volunteer parent coach to ensure the needs of the players are met and maintain the player-centric philosophy.
These are the coaches that work with the athletes on a daily basis, and make sure proper warmup activities are in place before practices and matches and to assist the staff coaches in the organization of the training sessions.
In some cases, the team coach is also the staff coach if the parent has the proper qualifications.
Downers Grove Roadrunners Success
The Downers Grove Roadrunners Soccer Club is a premier organization that lists 5 Illinois State Cup Championships and 3 National 3v3 Championships among its achievements.
Many players go on to have distinguished high school and collegiate soccer careers.
Earlier this year, The Downers Grove Roadrunners U-17 team became the first American team to appear in the championship game of the C.F. Cup, playing six matches in Spain against the top European youth soccer teams.
The excellent coaching and organization of the Roadrunners league makes it one of the top youth soccer leagues available.
