Downers Grove Outlaws – Fastpitch Softball
Exceptional youth softball players in the western Chicago suburbs join the Downers Grove Outlaws to satisfy their competitive urge in playing the game at a high level.
This travelling fastpitch league has teams from 10U through 18U levels. A fulltime league playing in A league tournaments, the Outlaws have notable achievements including a berth in 10-and-under Open USSSA Fastpitch World Series and various appearances from its teams in NSA national tournaments.
The success of the DG Outlaws derives from its emphasis on teamwork and fundamentals. Each player trains not only at their natural position but other positions as well, to gain a solid understanding of the game and hone their athletic instincts.
All the girls are well-rounded athletes with excellent work ethic and a desire to take their games to the next level. The league has corporate sponsors to provide athletes from all backgrounds to opportunity to compete and get the chance they deserve, and open tryouts are held at various times throughout the year to provide ample opportunity to field the best talent available.
The league isn’t for the coach’s kid. A good group of parents and volunteer coaches give all they have into their kids to prepare them for high school varsity and the collegiate levels.
Everyone helps each other out – when a few parents recently became unemployed and couldn’t afford to travel to prestigious tournaments, other folks stepped in and launched a fundraiser to help pay for travel costs so the parents could watch their kids play.
Downers Grove Outlaws Preventing Injuries
The Downers Grove Outlaws are a tight-knit unit that is dedicated and supportive of a fun yet competitive environment that brings out the best in their athletes.
This dedication is clear in the case of player injuries. Coaches of DG Outlaw teams are noticing a rapid rise in the rate of serious injuries such as torn tendons and ligaments requiring surgery, and joint injuries requiring therapy.
Most of the players are multisport athletes and also play volleyball and basketball as well.
Conditioning is becoming more and more important, and while the coaches are doing all they can to implement modern strategies, the serious athletes are seeking consultations with professional trainers to learn the proper techniques and training methods to prevent injuries from occurring to them.
Sports specific training methods will strengthen the entire body while making critical muscles and tendons more durable.
Not only will the athlete lower the risk of future injury, but gain the overall strength, agility, and conditioning to perform at the highest level possible in good health.
Having to take six months off for rehabilitation is crushing to an athlete.
Doing what everyone else is doing does not make it ok – each athlete can benefit from a customized training program based on their individual needs to make a great young athlete an exceptional – and healthy – one.
